A new health centre set to open this week will give residents of Martensville more options for care in their home community.
Like other health centres recently opened in the province, the Martensville Primary Health Centre will be staffed by a team of three nurse practitioners who will provide assessments and diagnostic services, assess and treat illnesses and injuries, screen and monitor illnesses and chronic diseases, provide referrals to specialists, and order and interpret x-rays and lab tests.

The centre, which is set to open this week, will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday, and the first appointments can be booked on Monday starting at 1 p.m.
Lori Carr, Saskatchewan’s minister for rural and remote health, said the new clinic will improve access to quality care for those in the region.
“This nurse practitioner-led clinic will ensure that residents of Martensville and the surrounding area get the care they need in their own community,” Carr said in a statement.
John Ash, the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s vice president for integrated Saskatoon Health, said improving access to close-to-home care is the organization’s top priority.
“The opening of this clinic will now provide residents in Martensville and the surrounding area increased local access to treatment and diagnosis,” Ash said.
