Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a homicide on Onion Lake Cree Nation that happened early Friday morning.
Police responded to reports of a shooting on the reserve at around 6 a.m. on Dec. 6, where they found the victim had already been taken to a local medical centre in Onion Lake.

Upon the arrival of EMS, he was pronounced dead. The victim has since been identified as 37-year-old Jesse Heathen from Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Due to the circumstances of the death, RCMP Major Crimes has been called in to investigate, which is being ruled as a homicide.
Police have released the identity of the victim in an effort to gain any tips or information from the public about the incident.
