A 45-year-old male from Buffalo River Dene Nation has been charged with driving a school bus impaired.
At the time, he had approximately 50 children on his bus. The RCMP investigation determined the kids were already dropped off when the bus was found.
This happened after the school day on Nov. 19.

Dillon RCMP received a report of an impaired driver in the Buffalo River Dene Nation community of Dillon, in northwestern Saskatchewan.
School employees and Buffalo River Dene Nation security guards noticed signs the school bus driver was intoxicated. They tried to prevent him from driving the bus full of kids.
Dillon RCMP quickly began searching for the bus to ensure the safety of the children inside.
Officers located the driver and the now empty bus.
Officers observed signs that the driver was intoxicated and arrested him.
The 45-year-old driver has been charged with one count of operation of a vehicle while impaired and one count of operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg per 100 ml of blood.
His driver’s license has also been suspended.
The man will appear in Dillion court on Dec. 18.
