Former Regina high school teacher Jefferey Dumba was found not guilty of sexual offences with a student.
The decision came on Tuesday at Regina’s Court of King’s Bench.
Dumba was initially charged with offences such as luring, sexual exploitation and making sexually explicit material available to a child.
The incidents were said to have happened between June 23, 2021 and Sept. 2, 2021, involving a girl who was 15 at the time.

In Justice Neil Robertson’s decision, he stated that Dumba took reasonable steps to ascertain or make certain, whether the girl was an adult and reasonably believed she was an adult before entering “sexual communications” and exchanging sexual images.
The Regina Police Service said Dumba was charged in 2021 after an investigation into what was described as “social media communication” of a sexual nature with a female youth.
Police did not name which school the incident took place at.
“I am also satisfied that, upon learning of the complainant’s true age, the accused told the complainant they must cease sexual communications and deleted her images from his devices,” Robertson wrote.
“While it is possible that the accused did continue sexual communications or did not immediately delete images of child pornography after he learned of her age, I have a reasonable doubt on all of the evidence that this occurred.”
Robertson said he dismissed all charges given his findings.
