On Thursday just before midnight, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Roving Traffic Unit did a traffic stop that resulted in around 50 kilograms of cocaine being seized.
The traffic stop happened on Highway #16 near Maidstone and officers used the canine unit to help locate the drugs and a sum of cash in the car.
“Traffic officers aren’t just helping to ensure the safety of our roads – they are also dismantling criminal operations to help keep our communities safe, as well,” Supt. Grant St. Germaine, the officer in charge of Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services said.
A 31-year-old man from Surrey, B.C. was arrested and made his first court appearance in North Battleford on Nov. 15.
