A man from Big Island Lake Cree Territory is facing a list of criminal charges after a woman he had allegedly forcibly confined escaped and was able to get help.
According to the RCMP, officers got a report saying a man had assaulted and confined an adult woman at a residence on Tuesday afternoon. Police said the man and woman were previously known to each other, and the woman reported non-life-threatening injuries after her escape.

The RCMP said officers executed a search warrant at a home on Big Island Lake Cree Territory on Tuesday evening, where they found a gun, a machete and a baton.
Lorne Singer, a 42-year-old resident of Big Island Lake Cree Territory, was later charged with forcible confinement, break-and-enter with intent, assault, assault with a weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, criminal harassment, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
A warrant has been issued for Singer’s arrest, the RCMP said on Thursday, and members of the public were asked to report any sightings or information about his location.
“Lorne Singer is described as approximately 6’0” tall and 150 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“If you see Lorne Singer, do not approach him.”
Big Island Lake Cree Territory is located northwest of Meadow Lake, near the Alberta border.
