After just three and a half years in business, another Saskatoon grocery store is closing its doors.
In April, 2022, the Extra Foods on Broadway — in the Nutana neighbourhood — was also closed, after parent company Loblaws said it wasn’t making a profit.

This time, in a brief Facebook post, Pitchfork Market + Kitchen announced Friday morning that it too would cease operations at its Meadows Mall location, effective immediately.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all our incredible customers, vendors, and employees. Your support and loyalty have meant the world to us, and we couldn’t have done it without you,” read the statement.
Vancouver-based developer Arbutus Properties, which opened the locally focused grocery store and kitchen, also proposed opening a $6 million, second location inside Midtown Plaza in 2022.
The company requested a tax abatement and the re-design of a nearby intersection to allow for more traffic to access the store.
The deal however, ultimately fell though in mid-2023 after the developer said it received “an unexpected lease termination notice from the mall owners.”
No reason was given for the closure of the store in the Meadows Mall.
