Saskatoon police are responding to online rumours about a shooting during a standoff in Hampton Village Tuesday night.
Around 10:30 p.m. the Tactical Support Unit (TCU) was deployed for a barricaded person in the 1000 block of Hampton Circle.
According to a statement sent to 650 CKOM, tactical officers waited a period of time before forcing their way into the home. The suspect approached the door but did not follow officer commands to exit the residence which resulted in a less-lethal round being discharged.
“It’s a rubberized projectile that is discharged from a less-lethal weapon comparable to a beanbag round; although, not the same,” said SPS in a follow-up email.
