A 33-year-old wanted man is facing a list of new charges after a failed attempt to flee from a traffic stop in a Dodge Journey early on Wednesday morning.
According to police, officers tried to stop the Dodge at the intersection of Eighth Street and Cairns Avenue, but the driver took off at high speed, running red lights in an attempt to get away.

Officers in the police service’s plane tracked the vehicle from the air, and saw the driver throw a machete out of the window. The machete was later retrieved by officers on the ground.
“Police successfully deployed multiple tire deflation devices and the vehicle stopped in the 400 block of 1st Street East,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“The driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle located two types of ammunition.”
Police said the 33-year-old driver – who was wanted on 21 warrants – is now facing new charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, and “multiple weapons charges.”
He was also found to be breaching court-ordered conditions, the police service added.
