Crazy Ape is trying to jump to new heights — literally.
Luke Shaheen is a co-owner of Crazy Ape, a trampoline manufacturer in Regina, and he’s trying to break the world record for the longest trampoline.
Shaheen joined Mark Loshack on the CKOM Morning Show to discuss the record breaking attempt.
“We’re already at 100 feet, and Russia’s got a record for 168 ft. and we want to take it right to 200 ft. and just smash it,” Shaheen said.
To clarify, this isn’t a handful of trampolines grouped together, it’s a single trampoline.
“This is one ginormous trampoline,” he said. “It’s 200 ft. long with nothing impeding you. You can just flip all the way down it.”
He doesn’t know exactly when the 200 ft. long trampoline will be complete or where the record attempt will take place.
“We’re going to see who’s got a place to put it, because we’ve got a big compound in Regina at our manufacturing shop and it won’t even fit in our compound,” Shaheen said.
As for the assembly, it’s all hands on deck.
“You need a flat deck trailer and a forklift, but it does come apart,” Shaheen said. “It comes apart into about eight foot chunks of steel, and I think it weighs 4000 pounds.
“This isn’t your typical trampoline.”

Crazy Ape manufactures and builds trampolines that are shipped around the world.
According to Shaheen, the Sask. business started back in the ’70s.
“It goes back to Herbert, Saskatchewan,” he said. “Farmers made trampolines in the winter and we’ve just continued on that legacy. So it’s been a few different companies along the way and now we’re the last guy standing.”
He said you might even have one of their trampolines in your backyard without even knowing it.
