The flames have been put out, now an investigation will begin into what caused a significant fire at a commercial property in North Battleford late Monday night.
The North Battleford Fire Department along with help from the Rural Municipality and Town of Battleford responded to a serious structure fire at a commercial property located on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford around 10 p.m. Initial reports from witnesses indicated the structure was a motel.
According to the city, the fire also engulfed a main transmission line, causing a power outage in North Battleford.
A post on the city’s Facebook page said RCMP, CSO’s and WPD Ambulance also attended along with local heavy equipment operators as the fire was close to a gas station.
