A wanted man allegedly assaulted and attempted to disarm an RCMP officer during his arrest in Pinehouse last week.
According to the RCMP, the 29-year-old man – who was wanted on charges including sexual assault and assault with a weapon causing bodily harm – was spotted by police while he was on foot near Hilltop Avenue in Pinehouse on Friday evening. When the man spotted police he allegedly took off into a wooded area.

“An officer exited the police vehicle, indicated that the male was under arrest, and followed him on foot,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“When the officer caught up to the adult male, he assaulted and attempted to disarm (the officer). A second officer attended the scene and the adult male was arrested without further incident.”
Police said the man was carrying bear mace, a knife and “a small amount of drugs” in his backpack at the time of his arrest.
He’s now facing charges of disarming a police officer, assaulting a police officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breaching court-ordered conditions, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
Pinehouse is located northwest of La Ronge on the shore of Pinehouse Lake.
