A 26-year-old man is facing criminal charges after what police described as an attempted robbery on Tuesday in Saskatoon.
According to police, officers were called to a store in the 400 block of Confederation Drive at around 5 p.m. after getting a report of a man carrying a machete who was stealing.

“Arriving officers quickly located the suspect; however, he evaded police and ran across multiple lanes of traffic while carrying the machete,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
An officer used a Taser on the man, police said, causing him to drop the machete.
“He was arrested without further incident and has been charged with robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, and was also found to be breaching court-imposed conditions,” the police service said.
