The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre has partnered with potash exporter Canpotex to help ensure infants and toddlers in the Saskatoon area have the nourishment they need.
The food bank launched its infant formula campaign on Tuesday, aiming to ensure vulnerable families have access to proper nutrition in order to ensure healthy child development. Canpotex is matching donations made during the October campaign up to $50,000.

“We understand the unique nutritional needs of growing children and the challenges families face in providing formula,” Laurie O’Connor, the food bank’s executive director, said in a statement.
“This campaign is a lifeline for many families in our community, especially as demand continues to rise.”
Monetary donations can be made online or in person, with all funds donated going towards the purchase of formula for families in need. In-person donations of baby formula are also accepted, “and will go directly into the hands of families who need them most.”
Gord McKenzie, Canpotex’ president and CEO, said the company is committed to improving food security in the Saskatoon area.
“Supporting the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre’s campaign is one way we can help address the need for infant formula among those most in need, and I encourage the community of Saskatoon to join us in making a difference,” McKenzie said in a statement.
