A police incident that disrupted traffic in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill on Saturday ended in the arrest of a 24-year-old man who has been charged with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said the man was arrested in connection to stabbings that occurred on Sept. 18 and Sept. 23. No details were provided about any of the incidents that led to the man’s arrest.
SPS said earlier that officers were called to a home at the corner of 22nd St W and Ave Q S around 1 p.m., and police were seen surrounding a house with guns drawn. Traffic was blocked on Ave Q S and reduced to a single lane southbound on 22nd St. They later said that the man arrested was seen by an officer and that is what prompted the armed response.
SPS said the man surrendered to police peacefully.
The area was cleared about 2:45 p.m.
