Mounties in Saskatchewan have found and arrested a woman who allegedly abducted her three sons in Ontario last year.
The chain of events started on June 16, when Mounties received a report that the three children – who had been reported missing from Durhum, Ont. in December of 2023 – were at the Boissevian Port of Entry in Manitoba, a crossing point between Canada and the U.S.A.

“Officers arrived on scene and located the three children, who were unharmed and with their mother, 55-year-old Astrid Schiller. The children were immediately taken into care,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“The mother was arrested as a result of an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Child Abduction from Durham Reginal Police. Astrid Schiller was later released from custody as the warrant was not extended into the province of Manitoba.”
But the case didn’t end there. The following day, police were informed that the three children, ages nine, 11 and 12, were no longer in care at the residence in Manitoba, and were once again missing. The Mounties announced that they were once again searching for Schiller and her sons, and said she was believed to be driving a white Mercedes GLC.
Police in Saskatchewan found that Mercedes SUV abandoned at Pine Cree Regional Park in the Cypress Hills on June 21, though Schiller and the children were still unaccounted for. In a statement, the RCMP said they may be staying at various campgrounds and parks.
Then, on Wednesday, the Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP detachment was notified that Schiller and the three children were in the community.
“Officers attended and located Astrid Schiller, 55, who was placed under arrest as a result of her Unendorsed Warrant out of Manitoba for Child Abduction,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“Her three children were placed into care and are currently in the process of being reunited with family in Ontario.”
Schiller was transported back to Brandon, where she was placed in custody, police said.
