A 75-year-old man is facing several charges in relation to a historical assault with faith-based affiliations.
650 CKOM confirmed with the provincial court and independent sources the accused is Ken Schultz.
Saskatoon Police Service did not name him, however, they said he turned himself into custody on Sept. 18.
He is facing charges of sexual assault, invitation to touching, and assault with a weapon.
- In January, Ken Schultz pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault and assault with a weapon, making him the fourth former employee of the independent school to face criminal charges.
- Also in Jan. the former athletic director of an independent Saskatoon school was handed a two-year sentence on Jan. 18.
Aaron Travis Benneweis worked at Legacy Christian Academy from 2008 to 2012. In October he pleaded guilty to sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor, which occurred while he was a staff member there.
- Earlier this week, a 44-year-old woman was charged after allegedly assaulting a then 7-year-old boy.
The mother of the child believes Terra MacEwan who was the gym teacher is the sister to Aaron Travis Benneweis, who has been convicted of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor in late January.
- Back in June, the trial for the former executive director of Legacy Christian Academy, John Olubobokun, started June 10 at Saskatoon’s provincial court.
Olubobokun faces several charges of assault with a weapon in connection to incidents alleged at the Saskatoon private school, formerly known as Christian Centre Academy.
- In addition to the criminal charges, several former students have launched a class-action lawsuit, seeking $25 million in damages from the school, its affiliated church, and a number of former employees.
In the police release, they said in June of 2024 police “received a report regarding allegations of sexual assault and assault occurring historically. The victim and accused were known to one another through their affiliation with the Saskatoon faith-based institution.”
