Saskatoon firefighters spent Tuesday morning dousing a garage fire in the 700 block of Avenue I North.
Neighbours tell 650 CKOM they heard a loud boom around 7 a.m. on Sept. 17 and that lots of black smoke was billowing from the alley.

The homeowner, Don Peters, explained that he lost power overnight during the storm in Saskatoon and was trying to refill his propane generator.
“I was trying to hook up the generator, you need a cord to run into the garage so I could have power,” he explained.
Neighbours found Peters trying to put the fire out himself.
“I tried to open the garage door and open the back alley door, but there was too much heat in there already,” Peters said.
His hair was singed and his jacket melted from the blaze, but EMS cleared his health at the scene.
The siding of a home next door melted from the heat.
