Saskatoon police called in their plane to track a vehicle attempting to evade officers in the city early on Tuesday morning, resulting in the arrest of 23-year-old Warman man.
Saskatoon Police Service said in a news release that a traffic stop was attempted at 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of 11th Street West and Fairlight Drive in the Agpro Industrial area but the driver drove off at high speed.
The plane was called in for air support and began monitoring the vehicle and officers on the ground were able to place a tire deflation device as the vehicle approached the Circle Drive overpass at 11th Street.
The vehicle was then driven onto Circle Drive South towards Lorne Avenue, police said, eventually making its way to Grasswood Road, south of the city, where another tire deflation device was placed.
The vehicle then came to a stop on Tamke Road, when it hit a ditch and rolled. The driver was arrested and taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the same vehicle had previously evaded police in July, and the man is facing charges relating to impaired driving, evading police, and dangerous driving.
