A 13-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon shortly before 3 p.m. and charged with robbery and possessing a prohibited weapon.
The Saskatoon Police Service responded to a robbery in progress at a store in the 2900 block of 8th Street East. According to police “further information provided stated two youths brandished a knife during the robbery.”
The only store that sells alcohol in the 2900 block of 8th Street East is the Real Canadian Superstore.

During the search of the youth under arrest, police “located a prohibited knife along with alcohol believed to be from the store.”
In the release from police, they said a search was unsuccessful for a second male suspect. “A passerby informed officers that the second suspect dropped a backpack.” Police said the backpack was filled with items believed to be from the store.
The 13-year-old also had an outstanding warrant.
