A 39-year-old man is facing assault charges after allegedly swinging a golf club during a confrontation on Sunday morning in Saskatoon, then using the club to intimidate other victims.
According to police, officers were called to Walmer Road at around 11 a.m. after the alleged victim reported that a man was swinging a golf club while “confronting the complainant.” While police were searching the area, a second call came in saying a man was intimidating people with a golf club on 20th Street West.

“Upon police arrival, officers observed the suspect in an altercation with a male victim; the suspect then noticed police and began to flee on foot,” the Saskatoon Police Service explained in a statement.
Police said the man was arrested after a short foot chase and a brief struggle. The 39-year-old man was found to have eight identification documents that didn’t belong to him on his person when he was arrested, police said.
He’s now facing charges including assault, assault with a weapon, and assaulting a police officer.
