Knives featured in two arrests in Saskatoon on Thursday.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on Aug. 2 that the first situation involved a report of a robbery in the area of 10th Street East and Broadway Avenue around 7 p.m.
Police said they had been told that a man had a knife and tried to stab someone.
The Air Support Unit was called in and found suspect walking on a path near Saskatchewan Crescent. Police dogs were then sent to the man’s location along the river where he was arrested.
A 42-year-old man is facing charges in relation to assault with a weapon, uttering threats, obstructing police, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with court ordered conditions.
In the second situation, SPS said officers received a call about a suspicious person in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive around 8:20 a.m.
Police found a man and a woman underneath a tarp and found the man was breaching court ordered conditions and was in possession of a knife. The 38-year-old woman had a warrant out for her arrest.
Both were arrested without incident. The man is facing charges relating to possession of a weapon, concealing a weapon, and breaching court ordered conditions.
