A 33-year-old man will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday morning on a charge of second-degree murder.
The man, whose name was not released as he has not had his first appearance, was arrested on Tuesday, roughly one day after the tragic discovery of the body of Trevor LaPlante.
LaPlante was found in the 500 Block of 18th Street East.
He was a long-time employee of McDonald’s in Prince Albert and a passionate Raider’s fan, according to friends who spoke to paNOW.
Despite the efforts of Parkland Ambulance, medics could not revive him and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accused killer is also charged with committing an indignity to human remains.
Prince Albert Police say no more arrests are expected.
Reaction on social media has been one of shock. One person wrote “Trevor was always friendly. would never hurt a fly.”
Another woman said “he was such a staple at McDonald’s and such a nice guy too. He took pride in his work. He will be missed. Condolences to all who knew and loved him.”
Metis Nation Saskatchewan Western Region 2 has announced it will be accepting donations for the Laplante family.
