The total cost for damages is expected to be substantial after fire crews battled a blaze at Prestige Flooring and Hardwood in Saskatoon on Wednesday.
Everyone got out of the building okay and no one was hurt. However, the two-alarm fire meant the Saskatoon Fire Department dispatched more than a dozen emergency vehicles to the scene.
The first alarm sounded at 11:30 a.m. when heavy smoke was reported to be coming out of the front doors of the business.
Fifteen minutes later, a second alarm was sounded bringing in more support. In total, seven engines and two ladder trucks were on the scene, and around 15 emergency service vehicles responded.
Update: A fire on Jasper Ave resulted in two alarms, bringing close to 15 emergency vehicles to the scene. Acting Fire Chief Rob Hogan said the roof of the building is compromised and damage costs are going to be substantial. No injuries were reported. @CKOMNews #YXE

The second fire crew noticed intense flames inside the building, which has carpets, hardwood, underlayment and other flooring items.
Acting fire chief Rob Hogan told reporters those materials contributed to an intense smell.
More information released by the City of Saskatoon later in the afternoon said the fire was contained to one corner of the roof — it was severely damaged but stayed together.
Neighbouring buildings were evacuated as crews worked to ensure the fire wouldn’t spread to another building.
The fire was declared under control by mid-afternoon and crews were still on scene in the early evening, identifying and tamping down hot spots.
The fire is under investigation.
