Friday marks the one-month anniversary since 66-year-old Harvey Myron Zoerb was killed in Saskatoon.
Zoerb’s body was found on June 12 outside of Fairhaven School just after 6 a.m. where paramedics tended to his injuries. He was then taken to hospital where he died shortly after.
The investigation forced Fairhaven School to cancel classes for the day and a plea from Saskatoon Police Service asking residents in that area to check their yards, garbage bins and doorbell or security cameras for evidence that could be used to help the investigation.
In the month since Zoerb’s death, nobody has been arrested and no suspects have been publicly identified.
Speaking on The Evan Bray Show with guest host Tamara Cherry, Saskatoon Police Chief Cameron McBride said they’re still trying to find any evidence that can help them solve this murder.
“The investigation is ongoing. We have put out more than one call to the community asking for leads, asking for video surveillance that individuals may have,” he explained.
“In this case — we have not come forward with a warrant to arrest anyone yet — so we just need all the leads we can get our hands on and we’re committed to keep moving forward on this,” McBride added.
McBride said this homicide has rocked the community.
“It’s really made an impact,” he said. “We’re committed to working hard to bringing this to resolution, but we need our community partners to help us out as much as we can.”
McBride couldn’t offer many new details including whether Zoerb knew the alleged attacker or not.
“I can’t say one way or the other right now. It’s all wrapped up in the investigation. I can’t comment on that,” he explained.
McBride did say the Saskatoon Police Service has a good track record when it comes to solving homicides.
Memorial walk planned
With the one-month anniversary of Zoerb’s death approaching, a memorial walk has been organized to support the deceased and his family.
The walk is planned for July 11 at 6:30 p.m. and will start in the 7-Eleven parking lot on Pendygrasse Road.
