Keep an eye on the sky this afternoon – Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms are possible in Regina and much of southern Saskatchewan.
“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain,” the weather service said in a statement.
“This severe thunderstorm is located near Earl Gray, moving northeast at 45 km/h towards Southey.”

According to Environment Canada, the storm could produce nickel-sized hail and winds as high as 90 kilometres per hour.
The area covered by the weather alerts included Regina, stretching east to Yorkton and southwest to Eastend and Maple Creek.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury,” Environment Canada noted.
“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
