Phyllis Austman isn’t just a fan of Snoop Dog, she thinks he’s da bomb.
“Well, I kind of love him, ” she chuckled.
“I know he’s a married man and he has a good family. He just seems like such a nice fellow; sort of laid back… and just a friendly person.”
Phyllis is one of Snoop Dogg’s biggest fans, and at 91, she’s also likely one of his oldest fans.
On Wednesday, Austman got the rock star treatment at the hip-hop legend’s concert at Sask Tel Centre in Saskatoon.
Rob Suski and Shauna Foster of C95 heard of Phyllis’s love for the rapper through her niece, Stephanie, and pulled out all the stops to make it a memorable experience.
They surprised her with tickets to the show, a limousine with red carpet service, a custom t-shirt and mobility aide to ensure her wheelchair wouldn’t prevent her from getting the full D-O-double-G experience.
“Oh, my goodness. Wow,” she said inside the limousine.
“I’m quite excited actually, wondering what’s going to happen.”
The next surprise was the biggest of them all.
When the limo pulled up to the arena, Phyllis learned she would be going backstage to meet Snoop Dogg in person.
“We’ve loved getting to know Phyllis, AKA ‘Great Aunt Phyzzle,’ and her love for Snoop and Mustangs,” said Foster.
“She’s really grabbed at our hearts and inspired us to live life.”
Snoop Dogg’s Cali to Canada Tour continues tonight in Edmonton and Friday in Calgary.
C95 is the sister station to 650 CKOM.
