A 37-year-old Saskatoon man is facing criminal charges after allegedly shining a laser at the Saskatoon police plane last week.
According to police, a blue laser was pointed at the plane at around 10 p.m. on Friday.
“This is extremely dangerous for the pilot and crew, as it can illuminate the plane’s interior, cause temporary vision loss and potentially cause loss of control of the aircraft,” the police service explained in a statement.

Officers were sent to a home on Coad Manor, and the officers in the air spotted a man jumping into a vehicle in a back alley. Police said a search of his vehicle turned up a pellet gun, and the laser was found inside the home.
The man who allegedly pointed the laser is now charged with assaulting a peace officer, mischief and breaching his probation.
