Some Saskatoon police bike unit officers suffered minor injuries after looking into an open fire along the river on Saturday morning.
According to police, the cycling officers spotted smoke coming from an area near the river close to the 600 block of Spadina Crescent East at around 7 a.m. on Saturday.

“The officers located a male and female sitting at an open fire and stopped to investigate a possible bylaw violation,” the police service explained in a statement.
“While being questioned, the two became combative, began physically assaulting the officers and attempted to disarm them.”
The 26-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested after what police described as a “significant struggle.” Each of them are facing four counts of assaulting a peace officer and two counts of disarming a peace officer.
