Blustering weather and bouts of rain didn’t stop students from plunging into Riversdale pool on Wednesday afternoon.
Dozens of school kids shouted “cannonball” as they rushed into Saskatoon’s first outdoor pool to open for the season.
Educational assistant Noah Dimitrie said they nearly cancelled the field trip due to the lousy weather.
“They (the kids) were really disappointed when we said we might not be able to go,” he said.
But the group appeared to be having a blast.
“They don’t seem to care at all, I mean the pool is already wet so what’s a few more drops,” Dimitrie said.
“A couple of them said they were kind of cold when we were waiting, but once they got in the pool they seemed pretty happy.”
Lathey Pool opens to the public on Friday, Mayfair Pool on June 12, and George Ward Pool kicks off its season on June 18.
A swim this summer will cost $9.35 for adults and $5.60 for youths ages six to 18. Children under six can swim for free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
