Funnel clouds had North Battleford residents keeping a close eye on the sky Wednesday afternoon.
Environment Canada confirmed four separate funnel clouds sightings in the area.
“None of them touched the ground,” said meteorologist Eric Dykes.
“Some of the pictures that we saw perhaps going two-thirds of the way to the ground. No damage or anything like that thankfully.”
The weather agency’s forecast for the Battlefords area showed a ‘risk of thunderstorms’, however a funnel cloud advisory was never issued.
“It’s always a little bit of challenge to predict the funnel clouds. The models were indicating a slight chance of activity in the area, but not enough to issue an advisory,” said Dykes.
The ominous clouds did prompt an alert from the city which advised people to get to shelter if needed and avoid “unnecessary” travel.
