An unconscious woman was found on the front steps of a burning home early Monday morning, and police say she appeared to be the victim of assault.
Police were called to the 100 block of Avenue Q South in Pleasant Hill at around 3:40 a.m. for reports of a fire.
“Upon arrival, officers located an injured female victim on the front steps with injuries consistent with an assault; the woman was unconscious and not answering officers’ questions,” the Saskatoon Police Service explained in a statement.

“The 35-year-old woman was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.”
Officers went with the woman to the hospital, but she wasn’t able to answer questions due to her condition.
The fire department attended and put out the fire — they didn’t find anyone else inside the house. According to the City of Saskatoon, which answers inquiries for the Saskatoon Fire Department, the fire investigator determined the fire was “incendiary” and the case has been turned over to a police arson investigator.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation was urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
