A Saskatoon man is facing assault charges after allegedly throwing a baseball bat at police officers following a fight.
According to police, officers were called to the 1000 block of Idylwyld Drive at around 5:20 a.m. on Monday for a report of a fight with a weapon involved.
“While en-route to the call, officers received an update that one of the individuals had a bat, and the other was bleeding,” police said in a statement.

“As officers approached the scene, a man matching the description of the suspect was found carrying a bat; the suspect fled on foot, throwing the bat at officers before being arrested a few blocks away.”
Police said the victim, a 61-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 30-year-old suspect has been charged with aggravated assault, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
