Police in Saskatoon are warning the public about a speeding ticket scam making the rounds.
“The scam sends a text message to people claiming to be the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Bureau and says their vehicle was captured speeding in a designated school zone,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“It then asks people to click a link so they don’t need to attend court.”

According to police, officers in Saskatoon will never send texts to request any type of payment. Anyone who gets the text was advised to simply ignore it and block the number.
“Do not click the link or make any payments to this website,” police added.
Anyone who’s been a victim of fraud or a scam was advised to contact police. Suspected scams can also be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, regardless of whether a person has been victimized.
