A major Saskatchewan highway reopened on Friday morning, but travel was still not recommended.
The northbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed south of Dundurn on Thursday evening after a jack-knifed semi blocked the route. According to the Saskatoon RCMP, other vehicles were struggling to climb the hill up out of the valley, causing further delays, and police worked to re-route traffic through the area.
That section of the highway was opened again just after 7 a.m. on Friday, according to the Highway Hotline, but travel was not recommended on Highway 11 between Davidson and Dundurn. The hotline was also recommending against travel on Highway 11 between Osler and Macdowall on Friday morning.
According to the hotline, Highway 11 between Kenaston and Dundurn remains slippery, with swirling and drifting snow presenting additional hazards.
Driving has been tricky in many areas of the province after a mid-April snowstorm left icy conditions in its wake.
According to Environment Canada, most of the snow will be gone by the weekend as more seasonal temperatures arrive in the province.
The latest information on road conditions can be found on the Highway Hotline.
