Three teen boys were arrested in Saskatoon on Thursday after a citizen spotted them carrying weapons.
According to police, officers were called to the 2400 block of 22nd Street West just before 1 a.m. after getting the tip from the concerned member of the public.
“Arriving officers located the youth suspects a short distance away; upon search of their persons, bear spray, a knife, and a bottle of alcohol were seized,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
All three boys, ages 13, 16 and 16, are now facing charges.

The 13-year-old is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon without authorization. One of the 16-year-olds was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, carrying a concealed weapon without authorization, and breaching court-imposed conditions. The other 16-year-old was also charged with breaching conditions.
The Government of Saskatchewan recently implemented new legislation in an effort to cut back on criminal use of bear spray, particularly in urban areas.
Anyone charged under the new regulations could face fines as high as $100,000.
