An Alberta company has been fined $85,000 in connection with a workplace injury in September of 2021 near Maple Creek.
According to a release from the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Porcupine Corral Cleaning Ltd. pleaded guilty March 14 in Maple Creek Provincial Court to a violation of Saskatchewan’s occupational health and safety regulations.
A second charge was withdrawn.

The ministry said the charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on Sept. 29, 2021, when a worker was badly hurt while conducting repairs under a truck.
The company was fined for contravening a clause of the regulations requiring it to provide “information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to protect the health and safety of workers at work, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.”
The court imposed a fine of $60,714.29 with a surcharge of $24,285.71.
