A rough grid road brought a stolen vehicle to a halt on Sunday, ending a police chase.
According to Saskatoon police, officers in the police airplane spotted a suspicious vehicle at around 9:30 p.m., but when police on the ground tried to perform a traffic stop, the driver took off.
Police said the driver took the Chevrolet Equinox into oncoming traffic at high speeds, then left the city heading west on Highway 14 with the Air Support Unit still watching from above.

At that point, police said occupants of the SUV threw what appeared to be a gun and ammunition out of the vehicle.
Police said the chase ended soon after when the driver took the SUV onto a grid road and got stuck. Both the Equinox and the licence plate were found to be stolen, and a sawed-off shotgun was found nearby.
A 30-year-old woman from Saskatoon and a 34-year-old man from Blaine Lake are now facing 29 criminal charges, police said. The charges include dangerous driving, evading police, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of stolen property and more.
Both were also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants, police noted.
