The Saskatoon Fire Department has determined a fire in the Wildwood neighbourhood early Monday was accidental.
“The fire originated in the garage and was caused by a malfunction of an electrical component,” the department said in a release. “The damage to the structure is estimated to be $200,000.”
Drivers commuting on Taylor Street were detoured as the fire department battled the blaze.
The fire happened at a house in the 4000 block of Taylor Street, near the intersection with McKercher Drive. Traffic restrictions were in place in the area in both directions, but were lifted shortly after 9 a.m.
