But while long-time Rider fans might jump at the chance to try out for the team they grew up watching, there will be some travel involved. The open tryouts will take place April 6 in Dallas, April 7 in Houston, April 13 in Tampa and April 14 in Fort Lauderdale.
“The tryout will include position-specific drills, followed by a one-on-one competition period. There is no live contact and participants will not be in pads,” the team noted on its website.

The tryouts will take place on field turf, and athletes will be tested on their 40-yard dash, broad jump, short shuttle and three-cone drill before their tryout. A registration form is also a requirement.
According to the team, a number of players got their starts at open tryouts, including running back Frankie Hickson, who attended open tryouts in Atlanta in 2022.
Mace is joining the team after two difficult seasons, each of which saw the team post a 6-12-0 record and fail to make the playoffs.
