Police in Saskatoon said their air support plane played a “pivotal role” in four arrests over the weekend.
In the first case, officers were called to Confederation Drive at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of an altercation that saw a man stabbed and a woman assaulted.
While the 17-year-old suspect had already fled when officers arrived, police said the Aerial Support Unit was able to track him down. He was charged with aggravated assault, police said, and the stabbing victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

The second case happened just a few hours later. In that incident, police were called to Avenue O South for another reported altercation.
“While police were arriving, ASU tracked a suspect to the 100 block of Ave O South, and observed him throwing something on the ground,” the Saskatoon Police Service said.
“The item was later identified as a sawed-off rifle. The 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, and concealing a weapon, along with a breach of court orders.”
In the other two cases, both from the early-morning hours on Monday, the Air Support Unit was used to track down two vehicles police said were stolen. A 25-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were arrested as a result.
