Saskatchewan has a new millionaire.
Mary Caisse of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Reserve took home $1,006,667.68 after winning the grand jackpot in the Vault Breaker VLT game at Eddie’s Place in La Ronge on Monday.
“I sat at the VLT machine as my husband played pool,” Caisse said in a media release issued by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “I wasn’t paying much attention to what was happening, but when four Vault Breaker symbols fell in a row, I knew I had won something decent.
“The last symbol kept spinning and spinning – it felt like it took forever to land,” she added. “When it finally fell in place, I yelled for my husband to come over.”

Caisse said she and her husband shed “shocked, happy tears” after she won the jackpot. She noted she has a few ideas for her winnings.
“We’re going to buy a house and share with our family,” Caisse said. “Just being able to help everyone get settled and more financially set up, that’s a dream come true.”
According to the corporation, Vault Breaker links 4,200 VLTs from about 570 sites in 270 communities across the province.
It features three mystery jackpot tiers: The province-wide grand jackpot with a minimum value of $500,000 that pays out before it hits $1.5 million; the regional major jackpot with a minimum value of $5,000 that pays out before it hits $25,000; and the local site jackpot with a minimum of $100 that pays out before hitting $500.
The Vault Breaker has awarded $37,717,757.79, to 40 winners since June of 2017. The provincewide grand jackpot was reset to $500,000 after Caisse’s win.
