Defensive tackle Charbel Dabire will remain a force in the middle of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive line in 2024.
On Friday, the CFL club announced the 27-year-old defensive lineman had signed a one-year extension.
Dabire played in all 18 games for the Riders in 2023, recording 13 defensive tackles and two sacks.
The six-foot-one, 290-pounder, who hails from Burkina Faso but moved to Canada when he was two, was taken by the team in the fifth round (44th overall) in the 2019 CFL Draft. He has played in 55 regular season games and three playoff games for the Riders, recording 37 defensive tackles and six sacks.
Dabire spent three seasons at Wagner College in New York, playing in 33 games and recording 73 tackles and two sacks.
This extension came a day after the team re-signed running back Frankie Hickson but released slotback Jake Wieneke.
Saskatchewan’s CFL regular season begins on June 8 against the Edmonton Elks.
