They were slip-slidin’ but didn’t get away.
Two men are facing charges after their attempt to flee from a traffic stop in Saskatoon was hampered by icy road conditions.
According to police, officers stopped an unregistered vehicle on Avenue I South in the early-morning hours Thursday. The driver gave the officer a false name, police said, and then tried to take off.
“As officers returned to the vehicle to continue their investigation, the driver attempted to flee but was unable to gain traction due to weather conditions,” Saskatoon police said in a statement.
“Both the driver and passenger were ordered from the vehicle and arrested without further incident.”

A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded shotgun with the serial number removed, police said, along with ammunition, a folding knife, and almost $5,000 in cash.
The men – ages 25 and 36 – are both facing weapons charges, police said, with the older man also charged with evading police, obstruction and breaching conditions.
