Saskatoon police say two men were attacked by a pair of dogs in the Holiday Park area Wednesday night.
According to police, a man was walking with his three young children on Schuyler Street when two dogs approached them with no owner in sight.
Police say the dogs bit the man several times while his children were able to flee to a safe location.
Another man in the area attempted to intervene, but he also was bitten by the dogs.
Paramedics were called to treat the men for the injuries. Police said one of the men had to be taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The call to 911 caused police and Saskatoon Animal Control officers to search the area for the dogs, which had run away. Crews were eventually able to locate the dogs in a backyard somewhere in the 700 block of Avenue O South.
Police said initially, there were several attempts to bring the dogs into custody of Saskatoon Animal Control officers, but they struggled to get the animals under control. It wasn’t until the owner of the dogs arrived that the officers were able to apprehend the dogs.
Saskatoon police couldn’t say if charges had been laid, the breed of the dogs or what their current status was as the investigation was in the hands of Animal Control.
650 CKOM reached out to Saskatoon Animal Control for comment, but hadn’t received a response by the time of publication.
