An annual holiday light show has been enchanting Saskatoon for 25 years.
The BHP Enchanted Forest is returning for its 25th anniversary celebration this year, which will run from Saturday through Jan. 7. This year’s festival features a 2.5-kilometre driving route winding through the Forestry Farm Park, with a total of 75 holiday light displays for visitors to enjoy.
Last winter, 76,000 people made the holiday journey through the forest.
Three new displays are being added this year, including the “BHP Christmas Around the World Globe.”
Car passes are on sale for $30 at Co-op food stores and gas bars and Shoppers Drug Mart locations around the city. At the gate, the cost is $10 per person or $35 per car. Those five and under are admitted for free.
Proceeds from the Enchanted Forest are split between the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation.
“This unique partnership has provided the citizens of Saskatoon and visitors from throughout Saskatchewan and beyond with the spirit of the Holiday Season for 25 years,” the show’s organizers wrote in a statement.
“Saskatoon is proud of the BHP Enchanted Forest, one of the longest-running and best Christmas light shows in Canada”
The lights might not be reflecting off a thick blanket of snow for the opening days of this year’s event, as Saskatoon and much of the province have seen unseasonably warm temperatures this week.
