Canada has a new “Top Dog,” right here in Saskatoon.
According to a news release from Saskatoon Police Service (SPS), Police Service Dog (PSD) Yanga and his handler, Cst. Drew Dubnyk brought home some serious hardware after competing in the Canadian Police Canine Association National Police Dog Championships in Barrie, Ontario (CPCA).
The CPCA is a not-for-profit organization that represents police, military and other government-run canine units.
Yanga was up against about 40 other police dog teams from around the country. Each team showed off their skills in categories including tracking, agility, obedience skills, building/evidence searches, as well as the “Iron Dog” competition.
The public even got to see the work of the police dogs up close, the final day of the competition was open to the public.
