SPS said Sedgewick died on Friday, but did not release the circumstances of his death.
In a statement, Chief Troy Cooper called Sedgewick’s passing an “immeasurable loss.”
The 37-year-old officer leaves behind two sons, Carson and Lincoln, and his step-daughter Rian. A GoFundMe for his children had raised more than $30,000 as of Tuesday morning.
Sedgewick was deeply passionate about family and friends, according to his obituary.
“Chris loved playing with his sons, whether on boat, beach, bike or coaching soccer, and he was a master cook specializing in meat,” it read. “With a garage full of tools and a natural talent for wood-working, Chris was skillfully remodeling his house room by room.”
A celebration of life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Prairieland Park.
Donations can be made in Sedgewick’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Saskatchewan.
