It was a huge weekend for automotive enthusiasts in Saskatoon.
Rock 102’s annual Show & Shine Weekend – which has been running since 1982 – took over 14 city blocks in the downtown core Sunday for one of Western Canada’s largest car shows.
Hundreds of cars, trucks and motorcycles were shined up for the event, which attracted 30,000 visitors from all over Saskatchewan and beyond.
Along with the individual collectors, 35 separate car clubs had stalls and displays at the show, and 56 vendors were on the scene offering food, drinks and more.
The big weekend – which has become a Saskatoon summer staple over the years – also included Rock 102’s Rock the River, a classic rock festival featuring performances by April Wine, Tom Cochrane, Men Without Hats, A Flock of Seagulls, Crash Test Dummies and more.
Scott Nolin, who’s been coming to the event since 1986 and who rolled up to the 2023 Show & Shine in his 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, said the car show is about the people just as much as the vehicles.
“It just takes people back to a simpler time,” he said. “Everyone’s got a story, everyone’s got memories (and) they can talk for hours.”
