The first cut is the deepest according to the Rod Stewart song, but fans in Saskatchewan might argue the second hurts more.
For the second time in 11 months, the 78-year-old singer had to disappoint fans in the province by cancelling his Saturday concert in Saskatoon before he could take the stage.
Fans only learned of the news minutes before opening act Cheap Trick finished its set.
According to SaskTel Centre, Stewart injured his vocal cords during warmup. He was treated by the on-call physician and left Saskatoon on Sunday morning.
“We are very sorry you are disappointed, it is not the outcome we wanted either,” SaskTel Centre told concertgoers on its Facebook page.
“After all he is human, and humans can get hurt. We appreciate your understanding of this situation and we wish Rod a speedy recovery.”
According to SaskTel Centre, Rod Stewart’s Tour will either issue refunds or reschedule. Fans will have the option of a refund even if the new date is announced.
Production issues was the reason Stewart cancelled a Sept. 14, 2022 concert date in Saskatoon.
